Green House Community Market joins up with festivities

The Food and Garden Festival activities extend to Station Road with The Green House Community Market’s fantastic Food and Home Fair. Just a hop from the demonstration kitchens and stalls, the Green House’s undercover market place will have everything relating to the home inside and out.

On sale will be their latest stock of home ware and up-cycled furniture, everyday household items and personal gift ideas. Plant pots and garden furniture will also be available to buy.

Festival sets out it stall

 

Letchworth Garden City Town Centre is set to become a food lover's paradise as the town prepares for the forthcoming Food and Garden Festival.

 Taking place on the weekend of the 19th and 20th May the town centre will become home to over 50 stallholders selling locally reared meat, home baked cakes and cookies, homemade preserves,  speciality cheeses, oils, spicy condiments and sauces, cider and beer as well as local fruit and vegetables.

The Head Chef from award winning and local favourite The Fox at Willian is the latest addition to the Food and Garden Festival's chefs on stage line up. Chris Jones, who has been Head Chef since December 2009 will be bringing his culinary skills to the Festival on Saturday and Sunday at the Leys Square stage. Chris will be appearing at 12.30 on both days.

Michelin chef joins Food Festival line up

Local award winning chef, Phil Thompson, is the latest name to sign up for May's Letchworth Food and Garden Festival. Phil will be bringing his Michelin Star winning skills to the demonstration kitchens on both days. 

By the age of 13 Phil started doing the washing up for his uncles restaurant, wanting to get more involved what naturally came next was picking lettuce and peeling potatoes. From there he enrolled in Thurrock Catering College completing 2 year cooking course.

Celebrity chef tops the menu for Letchworth Food Festival

Dean Edwards, regular chef on ITV's 'Lorraine' programme, today signed up to support this year's Letchworth Food and Garden Festival.

Dean, who started his career as a top chef after becoming a finalist on the BBC's 'Masterchef' programme, joins the fantastic line up of local chefs taking part in the weekend's cookery demonstrations. 

"I love bringing good healthy food into the community. Food festivals are a great way to spread the message about reducing food waste, supporting our local food heroes, and shopping sustainably," said Bristol-born Dean.

It’s time to ready, steady, cook as the Letchworth Town Centre Partnership brings back the Letchworth Food  Festival for 2012 and this time we're going green fingered too with the addition of a garden theme.

After a year’s hiatus this popular event returns to Letchworth Town Centre on May 19th and 20th offering up a tasty selection of market stall holders, cookery demonstrations, food concessions and free entertainment for all the family.
