About the festival
The first ever Letchworth Food Festival took place last summer, serving up a feast of fun in the heart of the Garden City. Thousands of visitors young and old, were attracted by the mouth-watering array of food on offer, gaining culinary insights from professional chefs, discovering the joy of purchasing food and learning to cook it at home.
The special event, which enjoyed glorious weather throughout the weekend, was hosted by Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, and featured:
- A number of food traders offering tastings and selling their produce including Heavenly Cakes, Hertford Honey, Jamie at Home, Jimmy’s Farm and many more;
- opportunities to talk with the traders and learn more about locally produced food;
- cookery demonstrations by professional chefs, including Phil Thompson, Harry Kodagoda, Sally Bee, in a fully equipped professional kitchen in Leys Square;
- North Herts College students demonstrating newly-acquired cooking skills;
- food to buy and take home;
- a wide range of traders offering food to be eaten by all the family for brunch or lunch to include soups, stews, hot and cold salads, goat curry, paella, chocolate, handmade fruit cream ices and other mouth-watering ‘goodies’;
- activities for children.
